Romaine Brooks - new art love

Walking around DC with RY on Sunday we stumbled into the American Craft Museum.
Amazing quirky selection of folk art, portraiture, sculpture, and the like. I fell in love with an artist I had never heard of: Romaine Brooks.

Great melancholy and sombre moodiness in these.

great melancholy? sombre modiness?

Looks like the subjects in this cat's work could use some ecstacy.. shit, for that matter, the previous commenter probably needs to reduce his/her dosage.

i kept trying to find someone with a missing ear. But everyone is sporting a coif (no i am not saying qwaf as in barking spider) that hides any damaged oriculas...

Now what would be worthy of one of my walls, is the piece with that weird looking creature (not sure if it is male or female). I am talking about the painting in which the character appears to have some type of carnal knowledge of those poor dachshunds. (to be honest, those dachshunds look as though they are hungry from some morning-dove).

Ok, so now you know what painting i am referring to.

But put that poe-ish looking he-she, and his funky spectacles in the driver's seat of your orange citreon with the dachshunds as his/her navigator.. Now your talking baby!!

With that kind of art-work no one needs ecstacy.
